Full Property Description
A rare opportunity to acquire about 28.84 hectares (71.26 acres) of mixed broadleaf woodland, partly classified as Ancient and Semi Natural Woodland. The woodland has road frontage, excellent potential for biodiversity and woodland conservation and supports a wide variety of songbirds, flora and fauna.
The broadleaf areas comprise principally chestnut coppice with some attractive oak stems and other species, including ash, sycamore and birch. Along the road frontage to Swanton Lane are a number of magnificent roadside oaks. In the northern part of the wood, there is an avenue of Corsican and Scots pine and this is interspersed with paths and open areas. Very few deer are present in the area, allowing the understorey and coppice to flourish and grow with little interference.
Oldridge Wood is to be found about two miles east of Canterbury, on the north side of the A257 Canterbury to Sandwich road. After about two miles out of Canterbury, turn left onto Swanton Lane and Oldridge Wood will be found on your left-hand side. Please park in the layby and enter the woodland via the public footpaths.
